The Operations Foundation course offers a globally recognized entry point into the world of embedded ops, Linux fundamentals and Networking,  — essential skills for working with RDK technologies.

The Operations Foundation Accreditation is a UK-first registered Global Certified Qualification by OFQUAL, created by the RDK community for new and aspiring engineers. It provides a formal recognition of foundational competence across RDK concepts, Linux, networking, embedded ops, testing, and operational management.

This program opens doors to new career opportunities across operators, OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and specialist RDK organisations, enabling engineers to step confidently into the embedded systems and broadband industries.

The Operations Foundation course assessment is a streamlined online exam designed to evaluate the breadth of understanding across embedded development. Completing the certification proves a solid foundation in RDK principles, embedded Linux environments, embedded ops, testing, and networking basics.

There are five key topic areas covered in the Operations Foundation accreditation:

RDK Foundation Overview
Understand the history, evolution, architecture, and components of RDK, including use cases across Video, Broadband, and Camera domains.

Linux Fundamentals
Learn how to navigate, configure, and operate Linux systems, including command line usage, shell scripting, file system management, and working within embedded environments.

Networking Essentials
Develop a solid understanding of TCP/IP, network layers, device communication, diagnostics tools, WiFi, Ethernet protocols, and embedded network configuration.

Operations and System Management
Build skills in managing embedded systems with tools like Yocto and BitBake, over-the-air updates, system monitoring, security practices, and troubleshooting techniques.

Successful candidates will demonstrate fundamental understanding across these key domains, positioning them for more specialized development or operations roles in RDK ecosystems.
